This sacred paradise is located a 1-hour drive south of Cancun. Xcaret (pronounced eesh-carette) is one of the loveliest and most unusual destinations of the area. It is said that this was the ancient port of Pole and that the Maya used to come here to bathe in its waters to purify their minds and bodies before sailing to the nearby island of Cozumel to worship the goddess of fertility, Ixchel. Man's ingenuity combined with nature's splendor has formed a very interesting park with a variety of attractions and is proof that development, conservation, culture and entertainment are not opposite concepts.
Attractions included in Xcaret entrance fee: the aquarium, aviary, bird breeding, mushroom farm, orchids, inlet lagoon, beach, natural pools, sea turtles, butterfly pavilion, botanical garden, Mayan village, museum, archaeological sites, swimming in the underground river (life jacket is provided).
Upgrade to the Xcarat Plus option to include lunch and use of snorkel equipment at the park.
